Lanciare un JOB di BackupExec da remoto


 

La necessità si sà aguzza l'ingegno. Qualche tempo fà mi son trovato nella condizione in cui si doveva far un backup di un DB di oltre 500 GB nel minor tempo possibile, ma non solo! Prima del backup dovevano esser eseguite delle operazioni di ottimizzazione degli indici. Per il backup allora ho scelto SSMSE che comunque è un ottimo prodotto anche se con alcune limitazioni, l'idea è quella di creare una maintanance plan che concateni le operazioni di ottimizzazione e quelle di backup. Tutto funziona ma il backup viene effettuato in locale per ottimizzare il tempo bisogna lanciare un job che trasferisca i file generati dal backup su un NAS. Il cliente dispone di una licenza Backup Exec, a questo punto si deve ricorrere ad un ottima utility di symantec in grado di amministrare egregiamente Backup exec da riga di comando e sopratutto da macchine prive di agent.

L'utility in questione è BEMCMD, se ne parla in QUESTO post del supporto symantec. In realtà ( sinceramente non mi meraviglio) il post non è del tutto corretto, l'utilizzo di bemcmd prevede che oltra all'eseguibile vengano copiati sulla macchina che dovrà utilizzare l'utility anche altri file, l'elenco dei file riportati nella segnalazione symantec è incompleto, di seguito la lista corretta:

Tutti i file citati sono nella directory di installazione di backupexec (di default %programfiles%\symantec\backup exec)e una volta copiati sarete in grado non solo di lanciare un job esistente ma di crearne anche di nuovi, di seguito l'output dell' help di questa utility
